Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi’s plot revolves “around a son who, in an unexpected turn of events, decides to arrange a marriage for his father in order to fulfill the demands of his potential better half’s family, who insist on having a woman in the household,” according to a synopsis on IMDb.

X reviews: What is the verdict?

Several users immediately posted their glowing reviews of the movie after watching it and it seems the family drama has won over audiences in India. One user posted, “In a year dominated by action spectacles and intense romance, #DurlabhPrasadKiiDusriShadi quietly emerges as the most satisfying family entertainer of 2025. It doesn’t rely on scale, shock value or star gimmicks. Instead, it wins you over with warmth, humour and a refreshing emotional honesty that feels increasingly rare.

At its heart, the film explores themes that Hindi cinema often sidelines: finding love at an older age, second chances, remarriage, and social hesitation around it. What makes the treatment special is the balance. The film never becomes preachy, nor does it reduce these ideas to surface-level jokes. There’s humour, yes, but also tenderness and lived-in sensitivity.”

While another user, praising Sanjay Mishra’s performance posted, “#SanjayMishra, leading the narrative, once again proves that he doesn’t need loud writing to make an impact. His Durlabh Prasad is awkward, hesitant, and quietly lonely. Mishra captures all of this with minimalism. The supporting cast adds texture, ensuring the world around Durlabh feels authentic rather than ornamental.”

Director Siddhanth Raj Singh also received praise for his “assured handling of the film” and Mahima Chaudhary was commended for her “calm confidence and emotional maturity.” Summing up what many felt was the film’s biggest strength, one viewer wrote, “What makes #DurlabhPrasadKiDusriShadi truly special is not its plot, but the themes it explores with quiet courage. In an industry obsessed with youth, desirability and grand romance, this film dares to talk about companionship in later life, social awkwardness around remarriage, loneliness, and the need to feel chosen again — all without moral lectures.”

About the movie

Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi, released on December 19, 2025, features a strong ensemble cast led by veteran actor Sanjay Mishra in the titular role of Durlabh Prasad. He is joined by Mahima Choudhary, who portrays his first love, Babita Devi, while Vyom Yadav plays his determined son, Murli, and Pallak Lalwani appears as Mehak, Murli’s love interest.

The film is a gentle family drama that primarily explores the themes of second chances and the evolving nature of companionship in late life. By centering on a middle-aged widower’s journey toward remarriage, the film challenges traditional Indian societal norms that often view love as a privilege reserved for the young.
