De De Pyaar De 2 box office collection day 2: Ajay Devgn is back in his whimsical era as he plays Ashish in De De Pyaar De 2. Struggling to find a way to find her parents’ approval, Rakul Preet Singh plays a much younger girl, wanting to marry Ashish, her significantly older partner. This romantic comedy franchise became a huge hit after the original collected more than Rs 100 crore during its theatrical run.
Directed by Anshul Sharma, several fans have praised R Madhavan, more than Devgn, for his performance as the ‘girl’s father’. Off to a modest start, De De Pyaar De 2 grossed Rs 8.75 crore on its opening day. As per the Sacnilk report, De De Pyaar De 2 made Rs 12.25 crore on the first Saturday, taking the total tally to Rs 21 crore.
Occupancy rates looked healthy after the release day slump. However, most regions recorded moderate occupancy with an overall tally of 20.5 per cent. Mumbai led the major markets with 24.25 per cent, while Delhi NCR followed at 20 per cent across more than 1,400 shows. The Anshul Sharma directorial also stars Ishita Dutta, Meezaan Jaffrey, Javed Jaffrey, and Gautami Kapoor in key roles. R Madhavan looked back on working with Ajay Devgn and said the experience left him inspired and creatively fulfilled. De De Pyaar De 2 reunited the Shaitaan duo, as he added that he felt genuinely appreciated throughout the shoot. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Madhavan explained that, like Ajay, he doesn’t believe in competing on set. Instead, he focuses on doing what’s best for the character and the film as a whole. He said he learned from Devgn that when the story works, everything else falls into place for everyone.
