Coolie Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajinikanth’s latest release Coolie has not only impressed fans with its gripping story and power-packed action but has also emerged as the box office winner in its first week. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, clashed with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s much-awaited War 2, leading to one of the biggest Independence Day weekend face-offs in recent years. Both films have already stormed into the Rs 200 crore club within seven days, but Thalaivar’s mass entertainer is running ahead in numbers.
Coolie Box Office Collection day 8
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened to a historic Rs 65 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 54 crore on Day 2 and Rs 39.5 crore on Day 3. The first weekend was massive, but weekday collections dipped with Rs 35.25 crore on Day 4, Rs 12 crore on Day 5, Rs 9.5 crore on Day 6, and Rs 6.5 crore on Day 7. On Day 8, early estimates show Coolie collected Rs 6.25 crore, taking its total to Rs 229.75 crore. Despite the expected drop after its opening weekend, the film has maintained a strong hold, which shows Rajinikanth’s dominance at the ticket counters and aims to enter the Rs 300 crore club soon.
Coolie story and star cast
Coolie tells the story of Deva (Rajinikanth), a former union leader who sets out to find the truth behind the sudden death of his close friend Rajasekhar, played by Sathyaraj. His search for justice pits him against the ruthless gangster Simon (Nagarjuna) and his brutal ally Dayal (Soubin Shahir). Packed with high-voltage action sequences, emotional drama, and Rajinikanth’s trademark screen presence, the film has struck a chord with audiences across languages. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s stylish direction and the film’s nostalgic title, borrowed from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1983 hit, have only added to its mass appeal.
War 2 struggles to keep pace with Coolie
On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani’s War 2 also opened big, earning Rs 52 crore on Day 1 and peaking at Rs 57.35 crore on Day 2. However, the action sequel witnessed steeper declines compared to Coolie. It earned Rs 33.25 crore on Day 3, Rs 32.15 crore on Day 4, and dropped further with Rs 8.75 crore on Day 5, Rs 9 crore on Day 6, Rs 5.75 crore on Day 7, and Rs 5 crore on Day 8. The film’s total currently stands at Rs 204.25 crore.
Coolie vs War 2 box office battle
While War 2 benefits from being part of the successful YRF Spy Universe and brings back Hrithik’s popular Kabir character with Jr NTR. However, it hasn’t been able to match Coolie’s box office momentum. With no major releases lined up until September, both films have space to grow. But for now, Rajinikanth has clearly won the first round of this mega box office battle.
