Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajinikanth’s latest film Coolie continues to dominate the box office in its first week. Released on August 14, the action-entertainer has not only pulled massive crowds to theatres but has also become one of Thalaivar’s biggest openers. The film marks Rajinikanth’s 50th year in cinema, and fans across India just can’t keep calm. If Coolie’s box office collection continues this pace, the film could surpass the lifetime earnings of Rajinikanth’s last hit, Vettaiyan.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie first week performance at box office

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie earned Rs 6.5 crore on Day 7, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 222.5 crore across all languages. The film had a blockbuster opening, raking in Rs 65 crore on its first day. While the numbers dipped slightly in the following days, the movie managed to remain strong throughout its opening week.

Here’s how Coolie performed over its first four days at the box office: the film opened on Thursday (Day 1) with Rs 65 crore, followed by Rs 54.75 crore on Friday (Day 2). On Saturday (Day 3), the collection dropped to Rs 39.50 crore, and on Sunday (Day 4), it stood at Rs 35.25 crore.

By Monday, the film had already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark, making its place among 2025’s biggest Tamil blockbusters. On Wednesday, Coolie recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 21 per cent, with Puducherry showing the highest turnout at 27.25 per cent.

Coolie’s star cast and audience response

A big reason behind the film’s success is its powerful star cast. Apart from superstar Rajinikanth, the movie has Nagarjuna Akkineni as the antagonist, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. Aamir Khan also makes a special cameo appearance, which has further excited fans.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction, combined with high-energy action scenes and Rajinikanth’s powerful performance, has connected well with the audience. Social media is buzzing with praise for Nagarjuna’s performance and Thalaiva’s screen presence, both of which have added to the film’s mass appeal.

Coolie worldwide box office collection

On the global front, Coolie has already crossed the Rs 400 crore mark within its first week. The film became the fastest Tamil movie to enter the Rs 150 crore worldwide club.

Despite receiving an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certification in India, which has limited its family audience footfalls, the movie continues to attract huge crowds. The timing of the release has also added to its hype, coinciding with Rajinikanth completing 50 glorious years in the film industry.

Will Rajinikanth’s Coolie enter the Rs 300 crore club in 2nd week?

With strong word-of-mouth and limited competition at the box office, Coolie is expected to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks. Trade experts believe the film could comfortably enter the Rs 300 crore domestic club if the trend continues.

For Rajinikanth fans, Coolie is not just a film but a celebration of their superstar’s legacy. Its a movie that proves why Thalaiva remains the king of Indian cinema even after five decades.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie vs Hrithik Roshan’s War 2

While Coolie has already crossed the Rs 222 crore mark, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 is yet to enter the Rs 200 crore club. The YRF action sequel closed its opening week at ₹199 crore, still trailing behind Rajinikanth’s mass entertainer.

This makes Coolie Rajinikanth’s highest-grossing film in recent years, surpassing TJ Gnanavel’s 2024 release Vettaiyan, which had collected Rs 171.20 crore domestically. However, it is still some distance away from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo (2023), which went on to earn Rs 341.04 crore at the Indian box office.
