Coolie Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth’s Coolie has shattered box office records with a Rs 65 crore opening day at the big screen. With soaring occupancy rates on the release day, the Independence Day 2025 weekend has sent the Coolie Box Office Collection through the roof, beating advance booking estimates as well.
As it inches beyond the Rs 10 crore mark, even today, the national holiday weekend has brought great showers to the Coolie team. Despite of mixed movie reviews from fans on social media, Rajinikanth’s Coolie has collected Rs 76.78 crore so far.
‘Coolie’ occupancy rates
As occupancy rates dipped on the second day, the overall for Rajini’s Coolie is still soaring above 60%. Giving steep competition to Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani’s War 2, Coolie is winning big in theaters. The Rajini ‘Powerhouse’ in Hindi performed decently well, attracting maximum fans from Mumbai.
The Tamil audience has been extremely generous to the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, with more than Rs 40 crore share coming from the regional language. Having a huge impact in Chennai theatres, Rajinikanth’s Coolie was also given love in
Trichy, Pondicherry, and Coimbatore. The lowest Tamil audiences came from Delhi and Mumbai.
Becoming a record breaker throughout, Coolie has surpassed Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, a Laxman Utekar directorial. Telugu, too, had high occupancy in morning shows with 68.14% seats filled and the highest footfall in Guntur.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie movie reviews
With a seemingly low IMDb rating of 6.7, this film has still been given an “enjoyable watch” review on the platform. Fans of Rajinikanth praise he screen presence. “Nagarjuna’s negative role was outstanding,” read a review on IMDb. Also lauding Shruti Hassan’s demeanour in the film, she was praised too.
However, fans agree on one thing and it’s the seemingly stretched second half of the film, with Aamir Khan’s cameo adding a bit of spice to the ending. Users of X also pointed out several loopholes in the storyline and blamed the director.
Lauding the signature flashback sequences, fans praised Kanagaraj’s directorial sense. Responding to the letter he released hours before the film’s release, fans replied, “When the director writes from the heart, you know the film’s going to hit the soul.”
