Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic Chhaava has emerged as a massive box-office success, both in India and internationally. The film, which chronicles the life of Maratha King Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his struggle against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, has struck a chord with audiences. By Tuesday, the film crossed Rs 350 crore at the Indian box office and is now on the verge of breaching the Rs 500 crore mark globally, achieving this feat in just 12 days.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava has received praise from both audiences and critics. The film has also gained political recognition, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning it in his speech.

According to Sacnilk, the film’s collections as of Day 12 stand at:

India gross: Rs 413.35 crore

Overseas earnings: Rs 70 crore

Worldwide total: Rs 483.35 crore

With no major competitors currently in theatres, Chhaava is expected to soon surpass Rs 500 crore globally, cementing its place among Bollywood’s highest-grossing films.

Breaking records

According to Koimoi, Chhaava is now the 18th highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide, surpassing: War (Rs 466.82 crore), Dunki (Rs 470.60 crore) and Tiger 3 (Rs 472.77 crore). The film is now closing in on Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju (Rs 541.76 crore).

Despite experiencing a 50% drop in earnings on Monday, the film still managed to earn Rs 18 crore on Tuesday at the Indian box office. With Maha Shivratri around the corner, trade experts believe Chhaava could see a significant boost.
