Avatar Fire and Ash worldwide box office collection: James Cameron‘s Avatar: Fire and Ash released on the Indian screens on Friday, December 19. After a worldwide release on Thursday, the global box office collection for Avatar Fire and Ash started with $43.1 million. This marked one of the highest opening days in 2025.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Avatar: Fire and Ash had a Rs 20 crore opening day in India. It stood at par with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, the Bollywood blockbuster ruling the Indian screens for two weeks. As it nears the Rs 500 crore mark in the domestic market, can Avatar derail its dominance?

Avatar Fire and Ash worldwide collection: Box office update

In the US, Avatar Fire and Ash has grossed over $37 million, including a $12 million collection. Estimates suggest a $84 million total for a three-day total across 3800 screens. While the $43.1 million does not include China, reports predict at least a $17 million gross from the country. This would not only surpass Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), but also stand behind Zootopia 2.

France was one of the biggest grossers for Avatar: Fire and Ash with a 50 per cent market share, as 3D and other premium formats dominated. Germany retained 67 per cent of the market while Italy dominated the charts. Korea, too, presented a significant popularity for Pandora.

Thursday was joined by Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. The top global box office collections come from France, which collected $5.5 million, followed by Germany at $4.7 million. Among the top five, Korea, Mexico, and Australia ranked with a total collection of $7.4 million. Among the other Hollywood releases, Avatar: Fire and Ash gives stiff competition to Sydney Sweeney’s ‘The Housemaid’ and animated feature ‘David’. In fact, the SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants is not far behind with a $18 million target set for the weekend.

Sacnilk reported a Rs 20 crore opening day for Avatar: Fire and Ash in India. As the overall occupancy rates remained healthy, evening shows filled more than 85 per cent seats. The IMAX 3D shows in English and Hindi averaged above a 65 per cent occupancy rate.
