Akhanda 2 Thaandavam box office collection day 2: After a turbulent four-year wait, the Akhanda franchise has finally returned. Bringing Nandamuri Balakrishna back to the big screen, his much-awaited role has left fans in awe. Akhanda 2: Thaandavam hit theatres on Friday, December 12, and despite harsh online reviews, the film opened to strong audience interest.
Also starring Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Jagapathi Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh and Saswata Chatterjee, the sequel leans into a contemporary fantasy space that blends faith, warfare and spectacle. The buzz was evident early on, with nearly 19,000 tickets selling out within an hour.
Akhanda 2 Thaandavam collection day 2: Box office update
According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 8 crore from paid previews before opening to an impressive Rs 22 crore across languages on day one. The Telugu version led the charge, as Balakrishna’s loyal fanbase turned up in large numbers to celebrate his return as Akhanda. While it narrowly missed matching Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar opening of Rs 28 crore, it still posted a formidable start for a regional heavyweight under Boyapati Srinu’s direction.
On the second day, Akhanda 2 grossed more than Rs 15.50 crore, taking the total tally to Rs 46 crore.
Occupancy levels reflected the enthusiasm. Across nearly 2,000 Telugu screens, the film filled about 57 per cent of seats, with night shows drawing the biggest crowds. Hyderabad emerged as the strongest market, touching 61 per cent occupancy across more than 750 shows, followed by Bengaluru at 48 per cent. The film was also released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, though the Hindi version saw limited traction, while Tamil fared comparatively better with around 44 per cent occupancy.
Picking up from where the 2021 film ended, Akhanda 2 raises the stakes. The sequel follows the parallel journeys of Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora and his twin, Mural Krishna. This time, though, a larger threat looms over the Maha Kumbh Mela. The narrative weaves a web around bio-warfare, science fiction and spiritual conflict.
