Akhanda 2 Thaandavam box office collection day 1: The Akhanda series is back after a tumultuous four years, also marking Balakrishna Nandamuri. With a cult-like following, the Telugu superstar’s much-awaited fantasy-drama released on the big screens on Friday, December 12. Despite online reviews trashing the film, Akhanda 2 fared well with Rs 8 crore in advance booking collection.
Starring Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, Jagapathi Babu, Kabir Duhan Singh and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles, Akhanda 2 is a contemporary fantasy film like no other. Selling out 19,000 tickets in 1 hour, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is based on a modern tale of warfare and faith.
Akhanda 2 Thaandavam collection day 1: Box office update
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Akhanda 2 made Rs 8 crore in day zero collections. Released on December 12, the film opened with a stellar Rs 22 crore across all languages. Dominating in Telugu, Nandamuri fans flocked to cinemas to support his comeback and witness his Akhanda charm. The Boyapati directorial also came close to Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar‘s opening day record of Rs 28 crore, but was shy Rs 5 crore.
Akhanda 2: Occupancy rate
The Telugu occupancy for Akhanda 2 Thaandavam dominated across nearly 2000 screens and filled 57% seats. A healthy rate for the regional heavyweight, Akhanda 2 night shows remained more popular. With over 750 shows in Hyderabad, the occupancy rate touched 61%, while Bengaluru came second with a 48% occupancy rate.
Akhanda 2 has also released in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada. While Akhanda 2 in Hindi did not do well, it managed to fill a little more or Tamil with a 44% occupancy.
The sequel lifts off where it ended in 2021. Bigger, better, and bolder, it restarts with a dual setup. Both Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora and his twin Mural Krishna get pulled up in trouble yet again as the peace is disrupted yet again. With a threat to the Maha Kumbh Mela this time, Akhanda 2 is laced with intense themes of biowarfare, science fiction, and more.
