Why?
+ it's the strongest predictor of your sleep quality
+ sleep quality determines will power and if you'll exercise…
He explained that your resting heart rate before bed is the strongest predictor of your sleep quality. “Sleep quality determines will power and if you’ll exercise and exercise and will power determine if you eat well,” he shared.
Top things to lower your Rest Heart Rate before bed:
- Eat your final meal of the day 2-8 hours before bed. Experiment.
- Have a 30-60 min wind down routine before bed. Read a book. Journal.
- Turn off screens. Do it.
- Have red and amber lights on.
- No alcohol. Stimulants (caffeine) in the morning hours to avoid disruption.
- Be consistent, in bed +/- 30 min each night.
Johnson has often sparked curiosity with his unconventional lifestyle choices. He avoids coffee and other stimulants, which many people rely on to kickstart their day.
Explaining his reasoning on content creator Jay Shetty’s podcast, Johnson said, as quoted by Indian Express, “I do not drink coffee. My emotions and intellect now are so steady, from quality sleep, a good diet and routine exercise, that anything that creates a rollercoaster of change, I avoid. And so, I don’t do caffeine, I don’t do nicotine, no stimulants… and my mood is just stable all day long… it is beautiful.”
