As part of its strategy to strengthen the local talent pool in the US, IT services company Tech Mahindra on Thursday said it has hired more than 100 local, full-time employees at its Alpharetta office in Atlanta. The US is the largest market for Tech Mahindra and with the addition of new employees, the total headcount at the Alpharetta office has gone up to more than 600 people.

The company employs more than 2,000 US citizens. Of late, Indian IT services majors such as TCS, Infosys and Wipro had increased their local hiring in the US after the Trump administration announced plans to overhaul the H1B visa fees and polices.

Wipro had also said over 50% of its workforce in the US are locals. From January this year, Wipro has hired more than 1,600 people in the US. As part of the hiring plan, Tech Mahindra recruits people from leading universities across North America.

It is also looking at deepening its relationship with the thriving start-up ecosystem in Atlanta and the surrounding areas.
