Railway Board educational: The Railway Board has eased the educational qualification criteria for Level-1 (formerly Group D) recruitment in Indian Railways. According to the revised norms, candidates who have passed Class 10, hold an ITI diploma, or possess the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) are now eligible to apply.
Change from Previous Requirements
Previously, applicants for technical departments were required to have passed Class 10 and possess either an ITI diploma or an NAC. This relaxation aligns with a written communication from the Railway Board to all railway zones, dated January 2, 2025, which stated that the decision supersedes previous instructions.
“It has been decided by the Board that the minimum educational qualification for all future open market recruitments in Level-1 posts, including the upcoming Centralized Employment Notice (CEN) for Level-1 recruitment, will be 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT,” the communication read.
Level-1 posts in Indian Railways include roles such as assistants in various departments, pointsmen, and track maintainers.
In a significant hiring initiative, the Railway Recruitment Board has released a notification to recruit approximately 32,000 candidates for Level-1 posts. The application process will commence on January 23, 2025, and conclude on February 22, 2025
