The She Research Network India has been launched by the University Grants Commission’s Information and Library Network Centre. This initiative is designed to achieve equal representation of women scientists across various research areas.

According to the UGC, the SheRNI website is set to connect 81,818 profiles of Indian women involved in science and research fields.

This platform empowers female scientists and faculty members to establish strong professional networks, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and opportunities for career advancement. The SheRNI initiative aims to empower women professionals by encouraging meaningful alliances, promoting collaboration, and supporting each other, thus driving progress in diverse fields.

UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar emphasized UGC’s commitment to ensuring the visibility and recognition of women scientists and faculty members, acknowledging their vital role as key pillars in India’s development through their research accomplishments and scalable solutions.

The She Research Network in India, also known as SheRNI, functions as a large online community for women with diverse expertise. It facilitates connections among these women, enabling them to share knowledge and provide mutual assistance. The primary objective is to create ample opportunities for women to collaborate, learn from one another, and offer support. This project’s main goals include building a comprehensive database of women experts in various fields and creating an accessible platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among them.

Insights from the SheRNI Database reveal a wealth of information. Currently, it showcases profiles of 81,818 women faculty members, showcasing their significant influence in the field of science. Furthermore, it encompasses an extensive collection of 675,313 publications and 11,543 patents, underscoring the crucial role women play in advancing scientific progress and encouraging innovation.

The UGC posted on X that SheRNI by UGC-INFLIBNET is an expert profile network system connecting over 81,000 active women researchers and scientists engaged in knowledge generation across diverse disciplines.
