The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is set to soon kickstart the registration process for the youth to access internship opportunities under the PM Internship scheme. While the government is yet to announce the dates for round 2 of the registration process, here’s everything you need to know before applying for an internship under the scheme.
What are the eligibility and age limits for the applicants?
The benefits of the scheme can be accessed by anyone between the ages of 21 and 24 who is currently not enrolled in any full-time academic programme or employment.
The candidate must have finished at least secondary education (Class 10 pass), higher secondary education (Class 12 pass), or have earned a diploma/degree such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.

Internships will be available across which industries?
Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to apply for internships in various roles across multiple sectors. These sectors include:

Who cannot apply to the internship scheme?
The candidates who satisfy either of the listed conditions would be deemed ineligible for the scheme.
Age Restrictions: Below 21 years or above 24 years of age on the application submission deadline.
Current Engagement: Currently in full-time employment or full-time education.
Undergoing any skill, apprenticeship, internship, or training program under a Central or State Government scheme.
Prior Experience/Qualifications: Graduated from specific institutions such as IITs, IIMs, National Law Universities, IISER, NIDs, or IIITs.
Hold qualifications like CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA, PhD, or any UGC-recognised master’s or higher degree.
Already completed an apprenticeship under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) or National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
Financial & Family Status: Family income (self, parents, or spouse) exceeded Rs 8 lakh for FY 2023-24.
Any family member (self, parents, or spouse) is a permanent or regular government employee (excluding contractual employees).
Nationality: International candidates are not eligible.
What documents are required to register for the internship?
Aspirants are advised to keep the following documents handy before applying for the scheme
Aadhaar card
Educational certificates (Completion / final examination/assessment certificates will be considered)
Applicants can modify all application details except those automatically retrieved from their Aadhaar card.
How to Apply for the PM Internship?
Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying for the PM Internship:
Step 1: Visit the Official Website
Navigate to pminternship.mca.gov.in.
Step 2: Register
On the homepage, click the “register” link. A new page will open.
Step 3: Complete Registration
Fill in the required registration details and click “submit.”
Step 4: Resume Generation
The portal will automatically generate a resume based on the information you provided.
Step 5: Apply for Internships
You can apply for up to five internship opportunities. Make your selections based on your preferences, including location, sector, functional role, and qualifications.
Step 6: Confirm and Download
Once you’ve made your selections, click “submit” and download the confirmation page.
Step 7: Keep a Hard Copy
Retain a hard copy of the confirmation page for your records and future reference.
What are the starting and the last dates for the PM Internship Scheme?
While the government has not shared any date as to when round two will start, media reports suggest that round 2 is likely to start on August one.
What is the duration of the internship?
Internships under the PM Internship Scheme are scheduled to take place for a year.
Is there a guarantee of employment after completing the internship?
According to the official website, there is no guarantee of employment upon completing the internship. An offer of a position is contingent on company policies and the intern’s performance. The website further clarifies that an internship offer does not create any contractual or legal employer-employee relationship between the Ministry, the company, and the intern.
Will an internship stipend be provided?
Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 throughout the 12-month internship program. Partner companies will contribute Rs 500 each month, subject to intern attendance and company policies. The remaining Rs 4,500 will be directly transferred by the government to the intern’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account via the Direct Benefit Transfer system after the company’s payment.
Which companies are participating in the PM Internship Scheme?
Under the scheme, interns are expected to have access to opportunities to work with companies across multiple sectors such as Reliance Industries Limited, Tata Consultancy Services Limited, The Times Group, ITC Limited, Hindustan Unilever Limited and more.
Whom to connect with in case of issues?
In case of any disturbance or hindrance experienced during either applying for the internship or working for the partner company, interns can raise their queries using the grievance redressal tools available on the official portal.

Can one apply to other internships after leaving their current internship?
Candidates who terminate their internship prematurely will be ineligible to apply for any other internship under the PM Internship Scheme for one year, starting from their initial commencement date.
