In the 3rd edition of the Veer Gatha Project, a remarkable 1.36 crore school students hailing from 36 states and UTs across India have participated. The students participated through poems, paintings, essays, videos and more, as they paid tribute to the remarkable acts of bravery and sacrifice carried out by the officers and personnel of the Armed Forces, as per an official statement.

Project Veer Gatha, initiated under the Gallantry Awards Portal (GAP) in 2021, had the objective of spreading awareness about the courageous deeds of Gallantry Awardees and sharing the life stories of these individuals with students.

The initiative aimed to kindle a sense of patriotism and instill civic values in the hearts of the youth. Moreover, Project Veer Gatha took this mission further by offering a platform for school students to engage in creative projects and activities inspired by gallantry award winners, as highlighted in a press release from the Ministry of Education.

This marks the third edition of the Veer Gatha Project, with previous editions conducted in 2021 and 2022. Under Veer Gatha Project 3.0, a range of activities has been carried out to date, particularly at the school level. Schools have undertaken various projects and activities from July 28, 2023, to September 30, 2023, and have subsequently shared the four best entries from each school on the MyGov portal.

Concurrently, the Ministry of Defence has been proactive in creating awareness among school students regarding the Gallantry Award Winners of our nation. Through its field organisations in the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Ministry organised virtual and face-to-face awareness programmes and sessions for schools across the country, as mentioned in the press release.

The previous editions of the Veer Gatha Project witnessed participation from more than 8 lakh students in Edition-I and over 19 lakh students in Edition-II. During these editions, 25 winners, known as the ‘Super 25,’ were chosen and they received recognition from both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi.

In the current Veer Gatha Project 3.0, the stakes are higher, as 100 winners, referred to as the ‘Super 100,’ will be selected at the national level. Their felicitation will be a joint effort by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi, with each winner receiving a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, as detailed in the press release.

In this year’s Veer Gatha Project 3.0, there will also be winners at the district level (04 winners) and State/UT level (08 winners). These individuals will be honored by their respective districts and States/UTs, marking a significant recognition of their contributions.
