Delhi MCD Election Results 2025 Live Updates Counting ward-wise: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has passed her first first litmus test as the BJP dominated the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections results with victory in 7 wards. These wards include Shalimar Bagh, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Dwarka, Dichaon Kalan, Greater kailash, and Vinod Nagar. All India Forward Bloc candidate Mohd Imran has bagged Chandani Mahal, the ward which recorded the highest voter turnout. AAP on the other hand managed to bag 3 wards including Naraina, Dakshinpuri, and Mundka.
Why was the polling held in just 12 wards?
The polling was held across 12 wards on Nov 30, with the recorded voter turnout of 38.51%. It was held due to the 12 vacancies that were created because 11 councillors were later elected to the Delhi Assembly and one to the Parliament. These vacancies include one of Rekha herself from Shalimar Bagh-B ward. Out of the 12 wards, Chandni Mahal saw the highest turnout at 55.93%, while Greater Kailash recorded the lowest at 26.76%.
What is the highest winning margin?
The biggest winning margin is 10,101 votes in Shalimar Bagh-B, where BJP’s Anita Jain won. The ward was formerly represented by Rekha Gupta herself. The smallest winning margin is just 148 votes in Naraina, where AAP’s Rajan Arora emerged victorious.

On the MCD by-poll results, AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj said that BJP had 9 seats, and AAP had 3 seats.
These 9 seats were the ones which the BJP had carved out in its favour after delimitation. Today, the Mayor is from BJP, the CM is from BJP, but still, their MPs were going to every street and telling people that if you elect a councillor from AAP, they would not let him work, he claimed.

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal says MCD bypolls show people are not away from the party.

The crucial MCD bypoll results for 12 wards in Delhi have been announced, with the BJP securing a decisive victory by winning seven seats. The Aam Aadmi Party managed to claim three seats, while the Congress and the Left won one seat each.
Voting for these wards took place on November 30. Of the 12 seats, the BJP had previously held nine, and the AAP three. Voter turnout stood at 38.51%, reflecting a lower participation compared to past elections.

Voter turnout across the 12 wards was recorded at 38.51%, which is lower than the turnout seen in the 2022 MCD elections. Counting began at 10 centres across Delhi under tight security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and deployment of paramilitary forces.
