UPSC IES 2018: The official notification for Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2018 has been released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on upsc.gov.in. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the exam now by visiting the official website. According to the circular released on the official website, “the candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.” Once applied, candidates need to keep in mind that the mere issue of e‐Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. Commission take up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for Personality Test.
Candidates who wish to apply can do so by filling the online application of the same after reading the details of the examination mentioned on the circular. The Online Applications can be filled up to 23rd October, 2017 (23.10.2017) till 18.00 Hours after which the link will be disabled. Recruitment on the results of this examination will be made to the Services/ Posts under the following categories:‐
Category I‐Civil Engineering.
Category II‐Mechanical Engineering.
Category III‐Electrical Engineering.
Category IV‐Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 588 including 18 PH(LDCP‐15 & HI‐03) vacancies. The number of vacancies is liable to alteration, according to the circular.

UPSC IES 2018: Exam Pattern-
Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers. Candidates are advised to read carefully “Special Instructions to the candidates for Conventional Type Tests and Objective Type Tests” (Appendix III Part A and Part B). For both writing and marking answers in the OMR sheet [Answer Sheet] in objective type papers, candidates must use black ball pen only. Pens with any other colors are prohibited. Do not use Pencil or ink pen.
