The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government is set to transform 10 schools located on the primary thoroughfares of the state capital, Lucknow and in Barabanki into ‘Demo Schools.’ These ‘Demo Schools’ will serve as showcases for delegates and visitors from various states and abroad, providing them with insights into the educational amenities offered in UP’s schools and the New Education Policy of the central government, according to an official statement.
The government’s strategy involves establishing chief minister model composite schools in 57 districts, which will boast cutting-edge facilities. During a recent review meeting with Education Department officials, CM Yogi issued directives to identify and upgrade schools situated along the main roads of Lucknow and Barabanki as part of this initiative, the statement mentioned.
The process of selecting these schools will include conducting a comprehensive gap analysis using on-site assessments and geo-tagging technology, along with leveraging the Prerna portal. The Basic Education Department is actively engaged in the modernisation of council schools, aligning with the CM’s vision throughout the entire state. “The rollout of this initiative is anticipated to kick off in Lucknow and Barabanki in the near future,” according to the statement.
These schools will serve as showcase and demonstration models. “Visitors to Lucknow will have the opportunity to observe the implementation of the State Education Policy and National Education Policy in action in these schools, including unique concepts like excellent learning and learning by doing,” Vijay Kiran Anand, director general, School Education, said. “According to the proposal, based on the gap analysis conducted by various districts, an expenditure of about Rs seven crore is estimated to be made for upgrading 10 council composite schools. In this way, an expenditure of Rs 66 lakh is estimated for upgrading and equipping each school with facilities,” he added.
These schools will be established as demo schools and will feature a learning lab concept. Their primary objective is to serve as exemplary models of upgraded schools across the entire state. They will be showcased to Government of India officials, State Government representatives, media personnel, and individuals associated with these sectors, as mentioned in the statement.
