The Supreme Court has ordered that the NEET-PG 2025 examination must be held in a single shift, highlighting the need to uphold fairness and transparency in the competitive medical examination entrance test. In its order, the apex court has stated that organising the exams in two shifts could result in inconsistencies and irregularity in the evaluation process. The bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath observed that it is impossible to ensure the same level of difficulty levels across two different question papers, making it unjust for the candidates.
Supreme Court verdict on NEET-PG 2025 exams
”Any two question papers can never be said to be having an identical level of difficulty or ease,” the Supreme Court mentioned, highlighting that this variation undermines the integrity of the examination process.
The court has directed the concerned authorities to make all required logistical and administrative arrangements to conduct the examination in one shift. It also emphasised that complete transparency is followed throughout the process.
The ruling is expected to bring relief for students who have raised these concerns earlier related to differences in the question paper difficulty when exams were held in two shifts.
The bench, which also included Justices NV Anjaria and Sanjay Kumar noted that organising the exam in two separate session leads to “arbitrariness”.
