The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has cancelled the Class 12 Business Studies exam after discovering that the question paper was identical to last year’s. Approximately 30,000 Commerce stream students had appeared for the exam, which was conducted on March 23.
The cancellation was announced on Sunday after complaints were received on the board’s helpline, according to RBSE officials. An investigation has been launched, and disciplinary action will be taken against the teacher responsible for setting the paper.
RBSE Secretary Kailash Chand Sharma stated that multiple sets of question papers are prepared, and one is selected for the exam. However, due to negligence, the teacher submitted last year’s paper without modification.
“We get four to five sets of question papers ready and then choose anyone amongst them. A teacher did not put in the effort and sent last year’s question paper to the exam. We will soon take disciplinary action against the teacher who made this deliberate error,” RBSE secretary Kailash Chand Sharma was quoted as saying by The Indian Express report.
While new exam dates will be announced soon, Sharma noted that the process of preparing and distributing a fresh question paper will take time. However, sources indicate that RBSE aims to conduct the re-exam before April 9, 2025, the final date of the board exams.
