Global data management and cloud platform services provider Oracle will train up to 500,000 youth and women in India in digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), Gen AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, machine learning (ML), data science and application development by 2028, under Project Vidya.
Oracle had earlier deployed Project Vidya in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) under the state’s Naan Mudhalvan programme through which it trained and certified 80,000 students. With an aim to take the initiative national, Oracle will collaborate with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train 100,000 youth and professionals. Modules under the initiative include engineering, arts, and science.
The training modules will be delivered by the company’s training and enablement unit Oracle University. The skilling programmes will provide learners with training and certification in key digital skills to equip skills for technology-driven careers. Project Vidya will be delivered as a digital learning experience with modules of different length through Oracle University’s training platform Oracle MyLearn.
“Through strategic partnerships and innovative models, we are building a skilled ecosystem that not only fulfills current industry demands but also anticipates future trends, empowering Indian youth to contribute significantly to the nation’s growth and development,” said Ved Mani Tiwari, chief executive officer, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The NSDC is in the process of deploying one million skill centres across disciplines in the country.
“Our collaborations with NSDC and TNSDC will provide essential and vital skills to our future digital economy. We are looking forward to expanding the reach of the programme and collaborating with states and skilling organisations across India,” Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional managing director, Oracle India and NetSuite JAPA said.
The programmes will offer foundational training in cloud technologies that will then channel students to professional-level training and certifications – including in areas such as dev-ops, AI, applications business processes, application development, and data science – as well as additional training curated individually based on learning levels and educational goals.
