National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Flipkart, an e-commerce marketplace, have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Through this partnership both parties aim to empower students and aspiring individuals to acquire valuable skills for a career in e-commerce, retail and warehousing sectors. Under this MoU, Flipkart claims to undertake the training, skilling, upskilling and certification of candidates for roles in these sectors, according to an official release.
Within the framework of this agreement, Flipkart’s ‘Project Bright Initiative’ will provide complimentary online courses aimed at enhancing students’ skill sets for entering India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce arena. These courses will cover fundamental e-commerce principles, soft skills and customer service skills to enhance learners’ employability. Flipkart is seeking NSDC’s assistance in accrediting and certifying the courses offered under this initiative. Additionally, Flipkart and NSDC will collaborate to raise awareness and extend the reach of these courses to a broader student audience, with the ultimate objective of facilitating their placement within the extensive e-commerce and retail sectors, the release mentioned.
“Together with Flipkart, we aim to empower candidates with the necessary skill sets needed to succeed in India’s e-commerce, retail and logistics sectors. We plan to take this alliance across the length and breadth of the country to help job seekers get employment of their choice,” Ved Mani Tiwari, Director, NSDC, said.
The MoU also includes plans to upskill candidates in the warehousing sector through training provided by the Flipkart Supply Chain Academy, coupled with certification upon successful course completion. Furthermore, the MoU entails Flipkart’s participation as an employer in NSDC Kaushal Mahotsav (Job Fairs) held in various regions across the country. This involvement represents a significant partnership between Flipkart and NSDC, focused on connecting job seekers with potential employers and opening new avenues for aspiring individuals, as per the release.
“Flipkart is deeply committed to supporting millions of local businesses on their e-commerce journey and contributing to the inclusive economic growth in the country. Our collaboration with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) aims to provide students and aspiring professionals with valuable skills tailored for careers in the e-commerce, retail, and warehousing sectors,” Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer, Flipkart Group, said.
