In the latest update to the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak row, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said stringent actions will be taken if National Testing Agency (NTA) officials are found guilty of conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), 2024.
Pradhan said the government has disapproved of the grace marks and has ordered that 1,563 candidates will have to reappear for the examination as per the Supreme Court ruling.
‘’Other malpractices have also been pointed out at the two examination centres. I want to assure students and parents that the government is treating this matter with grave concern and will see that it gets to a logical conclusion, ‘’ the education minister said.
He also highlighted that NTA officials including senior functionaries will face dire consequences if found guilty.
On reforms needed in NTA, Pradhan said that ‘’Major changes are required in the NTA’s operations. The government is backing this stance, and I assure you that anybody who will be found liable will be penalized accordingly.’’
The NEET-UG examination which is conducted for undergraduate medical courses in India was held at 571 cities in 4, 750 centres in India on May 5. A ruckus was created as soon as the results were announced on June 4th. Questions were raised by the students and parents related to the grace marks that were awarded to the 1,563 medical aspirants.
