The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has increased the seat availability for the second round of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 by adding a total of 614 seats. The updated seat details were released on the official MCC website — mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling.

Among the newly added seats, seven are spread across five medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, seven in four colleges in Maharashtra, and a significant 600 seats in eight colleges in Telangana. While the seats in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are open to all genders, 50% of the seats in Telangana are reserved exclusively for female candidates.

In addition, 6,947 virtual vacancies have been announced for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing admissions in round two. These virtual seats are available across various states, including West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, and several others.

Furthermore, on September 7, MCC announced that four universities have been granted ‘Deemed to be University’ status by the UGC. As per the Supreme Court’s direction in W.P (c) No. 267/2017 (Dar-Us-Slam Educational Trust & Ors. vs. Medical Council of India & Ors.), the following colleges will now be included in the seat matrix for Round 2 of UG Counselling 2024:

– Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad (200 seats)

– Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Hyderabad (200 seats)

– Malla Reddy Institute of Dental Sciences, Hyderabad (100 seats)

– Malla Reddy Dental College for Women, Hyderabad (100 seats)
