MIT World Peace University is gearing up to launch a transformative Voter Registration Drive at its Kothrud campus, commencing on November 21 in collaboration with the Election Commission of India. This joint initiative aims to motivate both new and existing voters to engage actively in the democratic process by either enrolling or updating their information, according to an official release.
“Championing democracy and the active participation of youngsters is a shared responsibility. Recognizing the essential role of voting ensures that the power of collective voices shapes the destiny of our shared future,” Ganesh Pokale, registrar, MIT-WPU, said.
This partnership underscores the university’s dedication to fostering responsible and engaged citizens. The drive underscores the significance of civic responsibility and the individual role in shaping the course of democracy. With the approaching general elections in 2024, as the world’s largest democracy prepares for this pivotal event, the voter registration drive seeks to inspire first-time voters to actively participate in the democratic process and fulfill their duty to the nation, the release mentioned.
“Feel proud to be a Voter. Be ready to Vote. Voter registration is a crucial step towards shaping the future of our democracy,” Minal Kalaskar, Dy. district election officer, Pune, said.
