Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Educational Testing Service (ETS) India have formalised their partnership through the signing of an Institutional Memorandum of Understanding (I-MoU). Under this collaborative initiative, LPU has established an exclusive Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) test centre on its campus, catering to a diverse student population not only from the university but also from the surrounding regions, according to an official release.

This collaboration between ETS and LPU is primarily focused on enhancing the university’s support for the preparation and evaluation of critical examinations such as TOEFL and GRE, conveniently offered on LPU’s premises. Additionally, LPU students will receive assistance in preparing for TOEFL and GRE through a series of masterclasses led by ETS India instructors. Furthermore, ETS India will conduct training programmes for LPU faculty members to empower students with the necessary skills to excel in these tests, the release mentioned.

In a significant development, ETS India has also announced the provision of merit scholarships totaling Rs 2,50,000 exclusively for LPU students as part of this collaborative relationship, as per the release.

“Punjab has long been a beacon for students seeking global education opportunities, with many embarking on journeys to the United States and Canada. Our joint efforts signify a commitment to nurturing the ambitions of LPU’s dynamic student community from across India and other countries,” Sachin Jain, country manager, ETS India and South, said.

In a continuous effort to expand student access and improve preparation, LPU claims to integrate TOEFL and GRE learning resources into their Learning Management System (LMS). Furthermore, they will explore the feasibility of granting elective credits for GRE and TOEFL within their institutional credit framework, spanning across all academic programmes, it added.

“This tie-up with ETS perfectly aligns with our vision of offering LPU students’ exceptional avenues for academic growth and success. We firmly believe that access to assessments will significantly expand global education and career opportunities for LPU students,” Ashok Kumar Mittal, founder chancellor, LPU, said.
