The results of the JEE Mains 2025 April session are out, and leading the pack is 17-year-old Om Prakash Behera from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. With a flawless score of 300 out of 300, Om has secured All India Rank 1—an extraordinary achievement that came in the January session itself, reflecting his sharp focus and consistency. Having already scored a perfect 100 percentile in January, he opted out of the April attempt, confident in his performance.

A discipline-fueled journey to the top

What sets Om apart is his conscious decision to steer clear of distractions that most teens grapple with. He stayed away from mobile phones and social media throughout his preparation, dedicating 8–9 hours a day to intense self-study. His approach involved meticulous test analysis and learning from every mistake. For relaxation, he turned to novels instead of screens, living by a simple mantra: “Focus on the present and don’t dwell on the past.”

Recognition from Odisha’s leadership

Congratulating the young achiever, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo called Om’s success a “historic moment” for the state. He applauded the teenager’s tireless effort and credited the role played by his parents—Kamal Kant Behera, an Odisha Administrative Services officer, and Smita Rani Behera, a college lecturer who took a three-year sabbatical to move to Kota and support her son’s dream. Singh Deo called Om’s story a beacon of inspiration for countless students and extended his best wishes as the young prodigy looks ahead to life at IIT Bombay.

Roots of excellence: Family and education

Born on January 12, 2008, Om was raised in a home where education was deeply valued. After scoring 92% in his Class 10 exams, he enrolled in the regular classroom program at Allen Career Institute in Kota. He credits the institute’s structured curriculum and competitive environment for pushing him to stay sharp and focused.

IIT Bombay dreams

Now setting his sights on JEE Advanced, Om is determined to secure a seat in Computer Science at IIT Bombay, widely regarded as India’s top engineering institution. With his unwavering discipline and rock-solid support system, Om Prakash Behera is not just a top scorer—he’s a symbol of what focused ambition can achieve.
