The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) Session 2 from Wednesday (April 2). The exams for Paper 1 (BE/BTech) are scheduled on April 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8, while Paper 2 (BArch/BPlan) will be conducted on April 9. The exams will be conducted in two shifts: the morning shift from 9 AM to 12 PM and the afternoon shift from 3 PM to 6 PM.

The exam scheduled for April 8 for Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech) will take place in the second shift from 3 PM to 6 PM. Meanwhile, the exams for Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) on April 9, 2025, will be conducted in the first shift from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. Candidates appearing for the engineering entrance exam are advised to review important details, including exam timings and guidelines, to avoid any inconvenience.

Students appearing for the exam must report to the exam centre at least two hours before the exam begins. Any delays due to traffic congestion, train or bus delays, or other reasons may result in missing crucial instructions announced in the examination hall. Candidates should strictly follow the dress code and carefully read the instructions on the admit card. Each candidate will have a designated seat with a roll number, and changing seats may lead to disqualification.

Candidates must verify that the question paper displayed on the computer screen matches their subject. Any discrepancies should be reported to the invigilator immediately.

Documents required at JEE Main 2025 exam centre

  • A printed copy of the admit card along with the self-declaration (undertaking) downloaded from the NTA website (printed on A4-size paper).
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded in the online application), to be pasted on the attendance sheet.
  • A valid, original, and non-expired photo ID, such as:
    • School identity card
    • PAN card
    • Driving license
    • Voter ID
    • Passport
    • Aadhaar card (with photograph)
    • e-Aadhaar with photograph
    • Ration card with photograph
    • Class 12 board admit card with photograph
      Bank passbook with photograph
  • A simple transparent ballpoint pen.

Dress code for JEE Main 2025

Candidates are required to adhere to the specified dress code to ensure a smooth examination process. Accessories containing metallic elements, such as rings, bracelets and earrings – should be avoided.

It is recommended to wear simple and comfortable clothing to maintain ease during the exam. Footwear with thick soles should not be worn, as it may lead to unnecessary scrutiny. Additionally, candidates should refrain from wearing scarves inside the examination hall.

Items not allowed inside JEE Main 2025 exam hall

Candidates are strictly prohibited from carrying the following items inside the examination hall:

  • Instruments, Geometry or Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, Paper/Stationery/Textual material (printed or written).
  • Eatables and water (loose or packed).
  • Mobile phones, earphones, microphones, pagers.
  • Calculators, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Cameras, Tape Recorders.
  • Electronic watches with calculator functions, metallic items, or electronic gadgets/devices.

Items allowed inside JEE Main 2025 exam hall

Candidates are allowed to carry only the following items:

  • Admit card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (clear printout on A4 size paper).
  • A simple transparent ballpoint pen.
  • An additional photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet.
  • A personal transparent water bottle.
  • Sugar tablets or fruits (like banana, apple, or orange) for diabetic candidates.
