The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for BTech and BE programs in the January 2025 session encountered technical glitches at one Bengaluru center, leading to a rescheduled exam for that location.
JEE Main 2025 exam structure
The BTech paper comprised three subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject was divided into two sections:
Section 1 featured 20 multiple-choice questions with single correct answers.
Section 2 consisted of 5 numerical-based questions.
JEE Main 2025 Session 1 Day 1 review
The paper on January 22 was considered moderate. Experts noted that while the Mathematics section in the first shift posed some challenges, the overall paper was balanced and manageable for well-prepared students.

Chemistry
Ajay Kumar Sharma, National Director at Aakash Educational Services Limited, observed that Chemistry was relatively easy. Organic and Inorganic Chemistry topics dominated, with fewer questions from Physical Chemistry. Assertion-reason type questions were included and were primarily theoretical.
Physics
Physics was deemed the easiest section, especially in the second shift. Mechanics was the most prominent topic, with questions also drawn from waves, magnetism, and modern physics.
Mathematics
Mathematics emerged as the most difficult section due to its lengthy and time-consuming questions. Topics included Calculus, vectors, 3D geometry, matrices and determinants, quadratic equations, coordinate geometry, and the binomial theorem. Many students found this section challenging to complete within the given time.
Trends in difficulty and performance
In 2024, the exam’s overall difficulty ranged from moderate to difficult. Notably, the number of candidates achieving a perfect 100 NTA score in Paper 1 (BE/BTech) rose to 56, up by 13 from the previous year.
