Applications are now open for the second edition of the engineering entrance exam, JEE-Main, and will remain so until March 2, as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam is scheduled to be held from April 4 to 15. Candidates who have previously applied and paid the examination fee for JEE (Main) – 2024 Session 1 and wish to appear for Session 2 must log in using their previous application number and password from Session 1, according to an official statement.
Those candidates who did not apply earlier need to submit a fresh application according to the provided schedule. The first edition of JEE-Main concluded earlier this week with a significant turnout of 95.8% of the total candidates for Paper 1 (BE/BTech), marking one of the highest participation rates since the NTA began administering the test, the statement mentioned.
The exam was conducted in 13 languages, including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Additionally, it was held in 21 cities outside India, including Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, and Oslo, where the exam took place for the first time.
Admissions to centrally funded technical institutions such as the NITs and IIITs are based on JEE (Main) scores. The top 20% of the merit list qualify to take the JEE (Advanced), the entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), it added.
