JEE Advanced 2018: The official website of Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) Advanced 2018 at jeeadv.ac.in has now been launched and is now functional. The Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur (IIT-K) is all set to conduct the examination next year on May 20. According to the information mentioned on the website, ‘The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2018 will be conducted by the seven zonal IITs. The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs. The decisions of the JAB 2018 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2018 and admission to IITs.’ It further said that the examination will be held on May 20, 2018 in two sessions. The entire JEE (Advanced) 2018 Examination will be conducted in fully computer-based test mode.

According to earlier reports, IIT-Madras Director and Chairman JAB 2017, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi last month said, “It has been decided that the JEE (Advanced) will be conducted in online mode from 2018 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course.”

JAB is the policy-making body on IIT admissions. According to Indian Express, the Human Resource and Development Ministry had earlier introduced the option of taking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)- Mains online. While the date of the JEE Advance examination has been revealed, the JEE Main examination date is still not known. The report states that the date will be released by the Central Board of Secondary Education by the end of this year.

JEE (Advanced) is conducted by any zonal IIT in rotation each year. While IIT-Kanpur will be conducting the examination next year, IIT Madras conducted the exam this year. Over 11 lakh candidates appeared for the JEE Main exam this year of which, out of which 2.21 lakh qualified for JEE Advanced. JEE is the only examination with which students can grab a seat in the 23 prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
