GATE 2026 registration revised date: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 registration will start later this month, by IIT Guwahati, the exam’s organizing institute. the registration process will become active through the official website-gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Earlier, the predictions marked August 25 as the start date, and the new date has been confirmed.

GATE continues to be crucial for engineering and science graduates aiming for postgraduate admissions, direct PhD programs, admission to selected international universities, and recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Candidates are advised to carefully check the detailed information along with the registration announcement.

As per the latest information, the revised date for the GATE 2026 application form will start from August 28, 2025.

Steps to follow for registration for GATE 2026

Step 1: Students will need to visit the official website-gate2026.iitg.ac.in

Step 2: Click on the register and make a new account by adding personal details like email ID, password, and mobile number.

Step 2: After submitting details, an enrollment ID will be generated.

Step 3: Enter your enrolment ID and password to log in to the application form.

Step 4: Fill up the application form that will include personal and academic details.

Step 5: Upload documents with signature, passport-size photograph, along with category certificate if required.

Step 6: Make the online payment through net banking, UPI or debit, or credit card.

Step 7: Go through all the details and submit the application form.

Dates to remember

The application window will start from August 28 and will close on September 28 for regular registration without a late fee. A grace period is also allowed till October 9 with an extra late fee. GATE 2026 is slated to be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 in two sessions. Results are scheduled for March 19, 2026.

As per the information published brochure, details on eligibility criteria, fee details, updated two paper combinations, and newly introduced paper on Energy Science (XE-I) under the Engineering Science have been provided.
