College Vidya has unveiled a report unveiling the extraordinary upswing in the demand for gaming courses throughout India. The results disclose a noteworthy uptick of 25% in student enrollment, with over 300 students per month opting for gaming-related courses during the academic year 2022-2023, in contrast to the figures from 2021, according to an official release.

This surge can be attributed to various factors, including the increasing number of students and technology enthusiasts pursuing professional education in gaming. The report underscores the magnetic appeal of promising careers in the gaming sector, coupled with competitive compensation rates, as contributing factors to this upward trajectory. Additionally, technological advancements have facilitated global connections among gamers and developers, offering extensive networking opportunities and a broader landscape for career advancement, the release mentioned.

“The demand for gaming courses (like BCA, MCA, certification courses in game development, full-stack development & game design and more) reflects the evolving preferences and aspirations of today’s students. The gaming industry is not just a form of entertainment but has evolved into a dynamic career choice with immense potential for growth,” Rohit Gupta, co-founder, COO, College Vidya, said.

Geographically, the report highlights the distribution of interest, noting that while nearly 62% of students enrolling in gaming development courses come from tier I cities, there is a rising enrollment rate in tier II and tier III cities, accounting for a combined 38% of students from these areas. Furthermore, there is a surge in the enrollment of women and working professionals in the ITES fields, with a combined percentage increase of 23.5% in 2023 compared to the previous academic year, the report revealed.

Looking forward, the report predicts significant transformations in the gaming sector in the upcoming year. It underscores the pivotal role of AI technologies and machine learning in shaping the future of gaming and the associated career landscape. The report anticipates a further surge in demand, estimating growth rates between 40%-50% in the coming years. These growth rates reflect broader shifts in academic preferences and formal gaming education, indicating an increasing inclination toward courses in computer applications and gaming, it added.
