Dharmendra Pradhan, the union minister for education and skill development and entrepreneurship, recently met with H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the group chairman and CEO of DP World in Dubai. During this meeting, they witnessed the signing of an agreement between NSDC International and We One, a subsidiary of DP World. This agreement aims to facilitate the long-term recruitment of skilled manpower and also opened discussions for potential collaborations, according to an official release.

Pradhan emphasised that the agreement would create new opportunities for global talent mobility, skill development, and connecting Indian youth with relevant overseas employment prospects. He emphasised India’s wealth of diverse talents and reiterated his commitment to realising the aspirations of India’s youth by preparing them to drive economic prosperity, not only within India but also on the global stage, the release mentioned.

NSDC International, a facilitator of global skill development solutions, and We One, a DP world subsidiary known for providing comprehensive logistics solutions, joined forces to support the development of skills and employment opportunities for the front-line workforce. This signing event builds upon a Memorandum of Understanding established in May 2022 between NSDC International and Hindustan Ports, a DP World company. The agreement led to the establishment of the Skill India International Centre in Varanasi, serving as a global centre of excellence for skills. DP World collaborated with NSDC to set up this centre, offering services like skill training, counselling, mobilisation, pre-departure orientation, foreign language training, placement, immigration support, and post-placement assistance, the release stated.

In a separate interaction, the minister met with the principals of all 105 CBSE-affiliated schools operating in the UAE. He was pleased to learn that these schools align with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and are actively implementing it on the ground. He noted that out of the five lakh Indian students studying in CBSE-affiliated Indian schools in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), more than 2.50 lakh students are in the UAE. Pradhan announced that CBSE India would establish a regional office in Dubai to enhance administration and serve the Indian diaspora, addressing a long-standing demand, as per the release.
