Delhi University (DU) and Hiroshima University, Japan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the University of Delhi on Thursday. The objective of this agreement is to foster collaborative international research initiatives with global universities. During the signing ceremony, Vikas Gupta, registrar, DU and Shinji Kaneko, executive vice-president, Hiroshima University, participated in the exchange of official documents. Gupta emphasised that the primary aim of this MoU is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership between the two universities, grounded in the spirit of friendship, according to an official statement.

The MoU outlines various areas of collaboration, including joint research efforts, the exchange of faculty members, academic staff and graduate and post-graduate students. Additionally, the agreement encompasses the exchange of research findings, academic publications, and other pertinent academic information, the statement mentioned.

Furthermore, the universities plan to implement various academic and educational exchange programmes that are conducive to their collaborative efforts. The duration of the MoU is set for five years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement between the parties, contingent on an evaluation of accomplishments and ongoing relevance, it added.
