Officials in New Delhi have articulated the city’s aspiration to establish itself as a knowledge hub with an aim to deliver comprehensive and high-quality education for all. This vision encompasses addressing the unique educational needs of each individual within a superior learning environment, as highlighted by the officials on Thursday.
The Delhi government, as per the information shared by officials, envisions a progressive increase in the total public expenditure on education relative to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). The aim is to elevate this percentage from 1.7 in 2023 to 2 by 2027.
Anticipated improvements in the gross enrolment ratio are set to rise significantly, projecting an increase from 48 in 2023 to a 70 in 2047 for higher education. Concurrently, the intake capacity of higher education institutions is poised to undergo substantial growth, escalating from 61,600 in 2023 to 75,152 by 2027, with a more substantial projection of 2,09,375 by the year 2047.
“Intake capacity of industrial training institutions to go up from 11,336 in 2023 to 14,211 in 2027 and to 44,000 by 2047. Number of start-ups is expected to go up from 228 in 2023 to 797 in 2027,” the officials said.
