The Elementary Trained Teachers Association in Shimla has expressed concern regarding the prolonged delay in announcing the results of the Junior Basic Training (JBT) exams. In a press statement issued by Reena Thakur, the Executive President of the association, it was emphasized that the JBT examinations, conducted in November 2023, have yet to see the release of results, causing apprehension among candidates.
Despite a three-month span since the exams, the government and the education department have not issued the JBT exam results. Consequently, the Elementary Trained Teachers Association has called for expedited appointments to fill the JBT batch vacancies, which currently number over 4,000 positions, directly impacting the education of students.
Reena Thakur stated that interviews for around 1,161 teaching positions were conducted in November, yet appointments have not been finalized after three months. Thakur highlighted the adverse effects of the vacancies on the education system.
Expressing frustration, candidates awaiting JBT results have urged the state government and education department to promptly decide on the outcome of the exams. They emphasized that the prolonged delay is neither logical nor fair. JBT, an acronym for Junior Basic Training, is a teacher training program in India designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective teaching in primary schools.
