Centurion University of Technology and Management, located in Odisha, is set to introduce the Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) in its School of Undergraduate Studies during the 2023-24 academic session. The FYUP, adopted by Centurion University across various disciplines including Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Business Administration, Commerce, Computer Applications and Information Technology, adheres to a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum aligned with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, according to an official release.
The university claims that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has already announced the implementation of FYUP in institutions such as Delhi University, Visva Bharati University and more than 100 other universities during the current session. Additionally, more than 300 universities across India are expected to adopt FYUP in the upcoming session. While the NEP 2020 suggests the option of either three or four-year undergraduate programmes with multiple exit points, the release mentioned.
“The four-year UG program entails an extensive curriculum to equip students with the skills and knowledge essential for excellence in the 21st century. The program aims to provide opportunities for students to engage in experiential learning and in research projects, pursue internships and benefit from industry collaborations,” Supriya Pattanayak, vice-chancellor, Centurion University, said.
The university further claims that this programme is designed with a focus on students, it adopts a student-centric approach, offering significant flexibility in selecting study disciplines and allowing seamless transitions between different fields of study. A key advantage for students is the opportunity to independently define their academic workload on a semester basis, enabling them to learn at their own pace to a considerable extent, it added.
