The Assam government, through the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award scheme, is gearing up to supply scooters to 35,775 outstanding students who have successfully passed their Class 12 exams. This initiative was given the green light during a recent meeting of the Assam cabinet held in Guwahati, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, according to the official announcement. 

Under this programme, 5,566 boys who achieved a 75 per cent or higher and 30,209 girls who secured 60 per cent or higher in the Class 12 examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will be beneficiaries of the scooter scheme. The distribution of scooters is scheduled for November 30, 2023, as per the statement. 

In addition to this, 27,183 students who attained 75 per cent or above in the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA will be granted Rs 15,000 each as part of the Anundoram Borooah Award scheme on November 29. Furthermore, the state cabinet has decided to allocate three additional MBBS seats for the Royal Government of Bhutan, with two seats at Nalbari Medical College and one seat at FAAMC, Barpeta.

Additionally, the state cabinet has given the green light to the Assam Private Security Agencies Rules, 2023, which will supersede the previous Assam Private Security Agencies Rules, 2008, as mentioned in the statement.
