Rekha Gupta, newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed heartfelt thanks to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership for entrusting her with the important responsibility. After the announcement, celebrations erupted outside her residence as she is set to become the fourth woman to hold the position of Chief Minister in Delhi. 

She wrote on X, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership and the people of Delhi for entrusting me with the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister of Delhi and showing faith in me. Your support is my inspiration, and I will remain dedicated to the development of Delhi and public service with full devotion.”

Rekha Gupta aged 50 is an MLA from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, who won against Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari in the recent Assembly elections. She will take the oath of office on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan. BJP central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankar were present during the meeting of the newly-elected MLAs.

Meanwhile, Parvesh Verma is also stated to be appointed as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister.
