The families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack have strongly welcomed the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, calling it a just and necessary response to the brutal killing of 26 civilians on April 22. The early morning strike on May 7 targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Channaveerappa, father of Bharat Bhushan, a tech professional from Bengaluru who died in the attack, said he had faith in the Indian government’s resolve. “We knew the Prime Minister would act and he did. Terror camps were destroyed — this is justice,” he told ANI, adding that the government had fulfilled its responsibility.

Bhushan’s wife, Sujatha, recalled the moments before the firing began. “One of the terrorists said, ‘How can you enjoy yourselves here when our children are dying? Haven’t you read the news about us?’ before opening fire,” she said.

Bhushan’s brother echoed the sentiment, stating, “Today it’s our family; tomorrow it could be yours. Stop supporting terrorism.”

Sarbori Guha, wife of Sameer Guha, said the attack on terrorist bases was inevitable. “This was bound to happen…The whole of Pakistan needs to be eliminated, or this will keep repeating.”

Shubham Dwivedi’s wife thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for honoring the trust of the victims’ families. His father, Sanjay Dwivedi, described the strikes as a moment of emotional relief. “Justice is done,” added Manoj Dwivedi, a family relative.

Pragati Jagdale, widow of Santosh Jagdale, said the operation proved India would no longer remain silent in the face of terrorism. Jennifer Nathaniel, whose husband Sushil, an LIC branch manager, was killed, urged for continued and direct action against terrorists.

From Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, Sumit Parmar and his son Yatish Parmar were among the victims. Yatish’s nephew expressed pride in India’s response, “We need more such strikes to wipe out terror completely.”

Rajesh Narwal, father of Indian Navy Lt Vinay Narwal, reiterated his confidence in the government. “When this happened, I told you I trust the Indian government, and today, it has delivered.”

In Kashmir, Hyder Shah, father of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, the only Kashmiri victim of the attack, praised the Indian armed forces. “The Army has avenged the death of our loved ones. I hope no more families have to endure this pain.”

Operation Sindoor, carried out between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., targeted key terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and PoK. It was described by officials as a measured, precise and non-escalatory response to the Pahalgam attack, which has been linked to Pakistan-based terror outfits.
