Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history as the first woman billionaire to enter India’s top 10 richest list. She ranks third, following Mukesh Ambani, the richest Indian, and Gautam Adani in second place. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, she is also the fifth richest woman in the world, with a net worth of ₹3.5 lakh crore. 75-year-old Alice Walton of Walmart is the richest woman in the world, with a net worth of $102 billion. Her net worth increased by 46 per cent in the last year.

Roshni has also become the first Indian woman to break into the global top 10 women rich list. This comes after her father, Shiv Nadar, transferred a 47 per cent stake in HCL to her in a strategic succession plan. The 43-year-old billionaire lives in New Delhi.

Who is Roshni Nadar Malhotra?

Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the only child of HCL founder and chairperson Shiv Nadar and philanthropist Kiran Nadar. She was born in 1981 and grew up in Delhi. Roshni did her schooling at Vasant Valley School before graduating from Northwestern University with a major in Communication. She also holds an MBA from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management.

She is a member of several advisory boards, including the Dean’s Advisory Council at MIT School of Engineering and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). She is also a board member of The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

Roshni has also received several awards in both business and philanthropy. In 2017, she was awarded Vogue India’s Philanthropist of the Year. In 2023, she secured the 60th spot on Forbes’s list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women and ranked 72nd on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Roshni is also a trained classical musician. In 2010, she married Shikhar Malhotra, the vice chairman of HCL Healthcare, and the couple has two sons.
