Manav Sharma, a 25-year-old IT employee, committed suicide in his house in Agra. With a history of self-harm, he blamed his wife for harassing him within a year of marriage. He was a Senior Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and had previously worked as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at various organisations.
Manav got married in 2024 in Agra but along with his wife, returned to Mumbai in February 2025. He claimed that his marriage was a distressing experience and he had reasons to believe that his wife, Nikita Sharma was cheating on him.
Before hanging himself, he posted a nearly 7-minute video on social media. In his monologue, he broke down while urging the society to “think and talk about men” as they are “lonely” due to the heightened societal expectations and pressures. Sharma held his uneven marriage responsible for his circumstance and found that this was the only solution he saw fit.
However, Nikita denied these allegations rehashing Manav’s previous suicide attempt. She claimed that Manav had been battling an alcohol addiction and had even talked to his parents about it. Allegedly they ignored his pleas and said that they “cannot do much about it”, a Times of India report stated.
