The India Meteorological Department in its latest bulletin has warned that heatwave conditions are expected to continue in East India and Northwest for the next couple of days. Meanwhile, extremely heavy rainfall is expected to take place over Sikkim and West Bengal. Similar weather conditions will prevail today in Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Kerala and Karnataka.
IMD extends red alert in THESE states:
The IMD has extended the red alert for heatwave conditions in East Uttar Pradesh from June 12 to June 15, Bihar and Jharkhand will have the same weather pattern from June 12 to June 13. West Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience the hot weather conditions from June 13 to June 15. It has also warned that there might be intense heatwave conditions in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal from June 12 to June 14. There will be no respite from the harsh weather in Delhi, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Punjab in the upcoming four days. Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu are also likely to deal with the scorching heat from June 12 to June 13.
IMD forecast on Southwest Monsoon:
As per the MET department, the southwest Monsoon has further extended its reach into additional areas of Maharashtra, Telangana, and the North Arabian Sea. It also noticed that conditions seem to be in favour of more advancement of monsoon over more areas of Chhattisgarh and Telangana in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall prediction:
A cyclonic circulation lying over northeast Assam and nearby areas at lower tropospheric levels has also been identified by the IMD. Under the impact of this, there is a chance of isolated heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Kerala, Telangana, Marathwada, Mahe, and the interior of Karnataka are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on June 12th. Coastal Karnataka will also have the same weather conditions from June 12to June 13. Goa, North Interior Karnataka, and Konkan are also projected to receive heavy rainfall today.
