The India Meteorological Department has warned that a wet spell is likely to present over Northwest India from January 11 to 12, 2025 under the influence of a western disturbance. As per IMD, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and lightning are also expected on January 11. Moreover, dense fog conditions are anticipated across the Indo-Gangetic plains over the next four to five days.

Thunderstorms and Hailstorms Warning

West Rajasthan is expected to experience thunderstorms on January 11. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail in Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan, Gilgit, Baltistan, West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Muzaffarabad and Ladakh for the same period. East Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh are to have it on January 12.

Hailstorms are expected to take place in Punjab, West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and South Haryana on January 11.

Rainfall Forecast

The Met Department has notified that a cyclonic circulation is lying over the Southeast and Southwest Bay of Bengal which is likely to bring showers in northeast and southern regions. Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Puducherry will receive isolated intense downpours on January 12. Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to have it on January 13 and 14. Kerala, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Mahe, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh to get it on January 13.

Cold Wave and Fog Warning

Cold wave conditions are expected to take place in Himachal Pradesh on January 12. Dense and very dense fog is likely to take place in Bihar, Chandigarh, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, East Rajasthan, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal from January 11 to January 15 during the night and early morning hours.
