India is experiencing a dynamic weather pattern due to multiple systems, including western disturbances and cyclonic circulations, which have resulted in downpours, thunderstorms, fog, and hail across various regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for wet spells, dense fog, and cold day conditions for the coming week.
Delhi/NCR Weather Update
The national capital is expected to have cloudy skies with light rain and drizzle in the morning. Smog and mild fog have also been forecast for the whole day, with the minimum temperature recorded at 12 degrees Celsius. New Delhi continues to be engulfed in fog, near-zero visibility at India Gate was reported and smog is expected to be present during the morning as well as evening hours.
Wet Spell and Thunderstorms alert
The IMD has predicted west conditions along with thunderstorms and hailstorms over Northwest and Central India. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh will likely get it on January 12.
Rainfall Warning
Northeast India is likely to receive light to moderate showers along with thunderstorms over Nagaland, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh on January 13. Moreover, moderate downpours with isolated intense spells have been forecast for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from January 12 to January 15.
Snowfall Predictions
A western disturbance is resulting in rainfall and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region, particularly over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir from January 11-12. Additionally, a fresh disturbance is also anticipated to take place on January 14.
Cold Day and Fog Forecast
Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience cold day conditions on January 12. Dense to very dense fog is projected in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab and northeastern states during the early mornings and night from January 12 to January 16.
