A hope emerged as rescuers detected life signals using an advanced radar system in the landslide-affected village of Mundakkai in Wayanad. Despite the efforts taken by the rescue operations team, the search was called off at 9:15 PM as they were not able to locate anybody.
Extensive search operations were conducted as soon as an official detected a ‘’blue signal ‘’ on the radar, indicating breathing in the landslide-affected area. However, the official was not sure whether the breathing signals were from an animal or a human being. The rescue operations were held with the help of machinery.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on his official Facebook account posted that the search drive was underway, and a beacon of hope arises whenever the slightest movement is detected on the radars. ‘’The rescue team is determined and are continuing their efforts to find out any survivors amidst the darkness and runnel of the collapsed building’’.
Search Operation ended
Directives were issued by the government to carry on the rescue mission as a constant breathing signal was detected on the radar scans.
As per the residents, the region detected by the radar used to have a house’s kitchen and a storeroom which resulted in the rescuers digging up the exact location. The debris of the buried building is expected to be submerged at least two to three meters under the muddy soil.
