VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) will host international faculty members Sebastien Semenzi and Georges Ortiz for the next few months at its campus in Raia, South Goa. Semenzi and Ortiz will be at the institute for the next few months and will train the students in the finer nuances of hospitality.
Affiliated to the Goa University and with an academic collaboration with the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, the institute offers a BSc in International Hospitality Management. The institute has forged a strategic tie-up with the international hospitality chain, the Marriott Group for knowledge sharing and training purposes.
The B.Sc in International Hospitality Management, affiliated to the Goa University and with an academic collaboration with the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland has been designed along the lines of the best hotel management programmes in the world, under the guidance of senior industry and academic experts.
Prof Irfan Mirza, director, VMSIIHE, on the arrival of its international faculty, said, “This institute offers the best in terms of course curriculum and infrastructure. The institute welcomes our international faculty members Sebastien Semenzi and Georges Ortiz who have contributed to the course content and are now in Goa to train and educate the students. We are delighted that we have completed the first term of the institute and look forward to another successful term.”
Sebastian Semenzi, one of the leading chefs in France, was the chef instructor at Glion Institute of Higher Education, Glion, Switzerland. He has worked with Escofier, Lucien Ogier (ex chef de partie of Escofier) and also with Jean Bordier (ex-president of chefs-maitres cuisiners de France).
Georges Ortiz, one of the most well-known names in the field of food and beverage studies from Switzerland comes with the vast experience both in international hotels and hotel management schools. He was a food & beverage lecturer at Hotel Institute Montreux, Le Roches, Bluche, The Swiss Hotel Management School, Caux and University Center Cesar Ritz, Brig, all of which are based in Switzerland.
The illustrious VM Salgaocar Group which has established a business legacy in the state, set up the VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) in July this year. Dattaraj V Salgaocar is the chairman of the Society while Shivanand V Salgaocar is the vice-chairman.
On completion of the course, graduates from this program will be unusually well qualified to understand and respond to the issues and challenges faced by the hotel management industry.
