A member of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP youth wing was brutally murdered in the middle of a busy street in Vinukonda town in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district on Wednesday evening. A video of the horrific incident showed a man, identified as Sheikh Jilani, attacking the victim Sheikh Rasheed using a machete in the middle of the road.
The video showed a severed hand and Rasheed bleeding profusely before being dalth with severe blows to his neck. As per eyewitnesses, the accused severed both of Rasheed’s hands before dealing a fatal blow to his neck.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 8.30 PM last evening. Kanchi Srinivas Rao, Superintendent of Police, Palnadu, said that preliminary investigations suggest personal rivalry as the motive behind the incident and further probe into the matter is underway.
The district police chief also sought to dismiss speculation around any political motives behind the incident and said strict prohibitory orders have been enforced in the Vinukonda town as a precautionary measure. The official further warned that any attempts to disturb peace and order in the area will be met with harsh consequences.
