A shocking road accident in Gujarat’s Vadodara has gained widespread attention after a video surfaced showing the accused screaming “another round” after stepping out of his vehicle. The crash, which occurred near Muktanand Cross Roads in the Karelibaug area around 12:30 am on Friday, resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to four others.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Rakshit Chaurasia, allegedly rammed into multiple two-wheelers while driving at high speed. Following the incident, Chaurasia was arrested, confirmed Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya.

Who is Rakshit Chaurasia?

Police stated that Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student originally from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, may have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash. They also confirmed that Chaurasia holds a valid driving license.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya, Chaurasia resides in a PG accommodation in Vadodara and is pursuing law at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara, as per his LinkedIn profile. The deceased victim has been identified as Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter when the accident occurred.

Following the incident, Chaurasia spoke to a local news portal, claiming that the car’s airbags deployed upon impact with the two-wheeler, causing him to panic. He denied being intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The vehicle involved in the accident is registered under Duan Technology, a company owned by the father of Pranshu Chauhan, who was in the passenger seat at the time. Chauhan has also been taken into custody.

Shocking video emerges

Although Chaurasia has denied being intoxicated, eyewitnesses claim he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. According to police, bystanders at the scene caught him shouting “another round, another round” after exiting the car.

In videos taken by witnesses, Chaurasia also mentions the name “Nikita” and chants “Om Namah Shivaya.” CCTV footage and eyewitness videos capture the chilling moment the speeding car struck two scooters, knocking down riders and dragging them before finally coming to a halt.

Another video shows Chauhan stepping out of the wrecked car and blaming Chaurasia for the crash, while Chaurasia, appearing incoherent, continues shouting. He was later handed over to the police after being thrashed by bystanders.

Authorities are conducting further investigations, including medical tests, to determine whether Chaurasia was driving under the influence.
